Semrush analyzed various statistics to provide a fascinating snapshot of how social media is being used around the world today:

The most popular social media site is Facebook, which has reigned supreme since its creation. How many people use Facebook? Facebook has around 2.8 billion monthly active users, and around seven in ten U.S. adults (69%) say they use Facebook to some degree.
With the exception of YouTube (which 81% of adults claim they use), no other platform comes close to Facebook’s popularity. Among U.S. adults who use Facebook, 7 in 10 state that they visit the site daily, with half visiting several times a day.
Facebook is more popular with women, with 77% of U.S. women using the social media platform compared to 61% of men. Education also influences Facebook use; 73% of U.S. adults with a college degree or higher use Facebook, versus 64% of those with a high school diploma or less.
How Many People Use Instagram?
Since Instagram launched in October 2010, it has had a meteoric rise to become one of the world’s most popular social media platforms. Instagram monthly active users add up to more than 1 billion globally. Instagram daily active users total around 500 million globally.
One of the most staggering statistics is that 23.92% of the 4.18 billion active mobile Internet users use Instagram at least once monthly, which is the same number of people as the populations of Europe and North America combined! With this immense fan base comes massively powerful accounts.
Who has the most followers on Instagram? Soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed influencer on Instagram, with 315.81 million followers, which is around 22% of all Instagram users.
How Many People Use Pinterest?
Pinterest has 459 million monthly active users. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Pinterest gained more than 100 million monthly active users — that’s the biggest increase the social media platform has ever seen. No doubt people wanted inspiration for projects and recipes to keep themselves entertained during lockdown.
How Many People Use Snapchat?
Snapchat currently has around 265 million daily active users worldwide. That is a 22% increase from the previous year, meaning that Snapchat is steadily gaining popularity. Snapchat is wildly popular among younger people. Nearly six in ten U.S. Internet users ages 13 to 24 use Snapchat. In total, more than 210 million snaps are created on Snapchat each day!
